RE: From 5th wheel to Class A

Are you a traveler or a camper? That's what I considered before choosing a Class A. If I were to frequently park and camp in one area for an extended time, 2 weeks to a month, and only traveled to that destination to home I would have a 5th wheel. We seldom stay anywhere more than 4 days.
I find the class A better to travel with and park overnight at truck stops, shopping centers and Walmarts. One time that comes to mind was when we were sleeping in a Walmart in a seedier part of town and we were wakened by screaming and swearing. There was a gang fight taking place outside our door. It was rock throwing and baseball bats swinging. I started up and pulled away in my pajamas and DW called the police. We watched from across the street, checked for rock damage, then went on our way when the police arrived. Sorry, but we left the 2 trailers parked next to us to fend for themselves since they would have had to get out of their trailers to pull away and they weren't about to to that. Just that one incident I was happy I had a MH.

RE: Why used gas motorhomes so expensive?

It's the buyer, not the seller, that decides what the unit will sell for.

RE: Presidents Club

Good Sam membership and their Emergency Road Service is the same way, they never tell you your expiration date but 4 months ahead of it they're telling you it's going to expire and send you a bill wanting you to pay for 3 year's membership. I may be dead next year then my widow will be begging them for a refund.
I complain and tell them to send me a bill the first of the month that it's due but it's like telling Exxon not to over charge you for gas. They do as they please.
As far as CW, I just hate paying someone for a discount so I'm boycotting them and buying on line.
There........I got it all out in one post!

RE: HELP! UNDERCARRIAGE FELL OFF, OUT OF WARRANTY, WHAT TO DO???

Is Cedar Creek a model of 5er made by Forest River or a separate manufacturer?
You folks are talking like FR is like General motors and Cedar Creek is like Buick.

RE: Cleveland, OH.... What to do?

I visited relatives there as a teen in the 90's.... OK, the 60's... :). One thing that stands out is the river park. IIRC, it's a long winding park in the valley of the Cuyahoga (? name?, sp?) River. Quite scenic & relaxing. Dunno how it is today, tho', or even if my memory is correct.
Jim, "The villagers are coming with torches and pitchforks. Please hide me!"
Is that the Flats you're talking about or the Cuyahoga Valley National Park up stream?

RE: onan bfa 4.0 problems

Spray some starting fluid in the carb when it starts to sputter or quit. If that causes it to run, probably not electrical...look at fuel delivery upstream from there.

RE: Wintering in N.M.?

We are considering spending a month or so at Blythe Island Campground, Brunswick GA. It has to be alot warmer than S/W Ohio.
Jon, I looked at Blythe Is. as a possibility for winter and plucked this paragraph from the ad:
Quinebaug & Shetucket Rivers Valley National Heritage Corridor is a fine local destination here at Blythe Island Regional Park Campground, and this is a popular location for people from Uxbridge. Summertime at Blythe Island Regional Park Campground comes with high temperatures in the 80's while nighttime lows are generally in the 50's. Highs throughout the wintertime are mostly in the 30's, and during the dark hours in the wintertime at Blythe Island Regional Park Campground temperatures fall to the 10's.
Those are Ohio temps.....Is that possible it's that cold in Ga.?

RE: Class C vs Class A on Same Floorplan

We went from a 30' C to a 30' A with basically the same floor plan. (Aren't they all basically the same?)
At first we missed the front doors access the class C offers but now we're past that.
The A has about twice the basement storage, more cargo carrying capacity weight-wise, almost double the fresh water and waste capacity (with heated tanks) and the front driver/passenger area is now living space when we're parked.
We wouldn't go back.

RE: Onan Gen Set 4000

Will it restart right away? If not, spray some starting fluid in the carb throat and try it again. If it starts and quits or continues to run while you spray the the carb it's likely a fuel delivery problem. You can disconnect the fuel line @ the carb, run the hose in a can and push the start button. Fuel should come out...if not, go from there.

RE: Guardian Generator Generac Quietpac 4.0

John, give us a reply here when it's fixed. I'm curious what they say was wrong.
I took mine to the dealer when it did the same thing during hot weather running the a/c. They couldn't duplicate the problem but it never quit by itself again after that. Thanks, Admiral

RE: New Dometic Recall Initiated March 11, 2008

Hi guys. I guess I've been under a rock or something. A fellow camper brought this new recall to my attention a few weeks ago and my refer is on the list. What do I do now? Do I contact Dometic? I bought my 5th wheel from an individual. However I received the first recall notice and it did not apply to me. Never got the expanded recall. I await someones reply. Steve A. Dagro

RE: LEAK IN SALEM LE MODEL 30 BHBS

and also they sealed the rear tail lights on the outside.
When you say "tail lights" does that include the running/clearance lights near the top of the back end? They are prolific leakers and the leak always shows up elsewhere below that location.

RE: Service prices

Check your service maintenance manual on the tranny flush. Mine is a Ford and says 30,000 mile intervals for a fluid change.
That's the same price I paid for my flush and it included 17 quarts of Mercon.
I'm a believer that towing is tougher on a transmission than any other component.

RE: Roof Caulking...

3 years seems a little premature for caulk failure unless they used inferior stuff.
I use a heat gun and plastic putty knife to remove old caulk. As far as new stuff, use a compatible caulk for your roof material. If you have a TPO or rubber roof it should say it's compatible on the tube.
The self leveling type is best on horizontal surfaces

RE: water pump - eletrical issue?

Your trouble shooting procedure is right on so far. My knowledge about the switches is that if it is a rectangle shaped switch, it is snapped into a rectangle shaped hole in the panel. There are two plastic clips on the switch base that click and lock it in place as it is pressed in. This type of switch cannot be pried out or the clips will break off. The clips have to be depressed first from the back and then you will be able to push the switch out towards the front of the panel to test it or replace it.
My guess is that you'll have to remove the stove hood by unscrewing it from below the cabinet to gain access. Some of these screws may be hidden by the snap out filter on the bottom of the hood.
Good luck and let us know what you find.

We went on the same trip last year and wore shorts @ Devil's Tower and hoodies and jeans and sometimes winter coats in Yellowstone. Here's a photo we took as we left on 9-24-07 heading down the east slope.

RE: Squeaky Front Suspension

Mine is a Ford F-53 chassis with front leaf springs. About every 6 months I have to spray the springs with dry lube and that shuts them up until the stuff gets washed away. I can't hear them squeak on the road but getting in and out or walking around side to side will make them audible.

RE: Water leak in 2007 Holiday Rambler

Some RV dealers have a positive air pressure test machine where they blow high volume, low pressure air into your RV and put soapsuds on the roof and outside to see where it's bubbling up.
You can do the same test yourself with an old squirrel cage furnace blower or leaf blower placed on a ladder into a window then seal off the rest of it with cardboard. Mop on some soapsuds made with dish washing liquid.
Get a roll of Eternabond to seal it off permanently.
